European Skeleton Championship 2007

The European Skeleton Championship 2007 was held on February 23 and 24, 2007 as part of the last season world cup on the bobsleigh and toboggan run in Königssee .

In addition to Europeans, there were also starters from other continents, which were removed from the ranking for the European Championship. In the women's category, there were three non-Europeans in the top six, but Anja Huber was also able to win the World Cup race . It is different with men. Here triumphed Zach Lund , European champion Alexander Tretyakov came only in second place.

After the first run, as usual in the World Cup, only the 20 best placed starters were allowed to compete in the second run.

Date: February 24, 2007. There were a total of 26 participants at the start. 14 Europeans were able to qualify for the second round.

With Alexander Tretyakov, one of the favorites won the European Championship, who had previously come out on top in several World Cup races. The runner-up Penz crowned a rather mixed season, which got better and better towards the end. The good results of the Latvian Dukurs brothers came as a surprise.

The winner Anja Huber was not one of the closest favorites, but was not a sensational winner. She was able to continue the tradition of the German female skeleton pilots, who have won four of the five European championship titles since the first edition. Huber is the fifth title holder. The runner-up Maya Pedersen-Bieri, 2006 Olympic champion, was the top favorite. The third-placed Monika Wołowiec was a big surprise, the bronze medal was her greatest success so far.
