The winner Anja Huber was not one of the closest favorites, but was not a sensational winner. She was able to continue the tradition of the German female skeleton pilots, who have won four of the five European championship titles since the first edition. Huber is the fifth title holder. The runner-up Maya Pedersen-Bieri, 2006 Olympic champion, was the top favorite. The third-placed Monika Wołowiec was a big surprise, the bronze medal was her greatest success so far.
