Frank Kleber

Frank Kleber (born February 11, 1981 in Graefelfing ) is a German skeleton driver .

Career

Frank Kleber is a trained tiler and works in his father's business. The athlete from BSC Munich has been an active skeleton pilot since 1988. He came to this sport at the age of six because his father Franz Kleber was a multiple German champion in this sport. He made his World Cup debut in 1999 as 28th in Igls . In 2001 in Nagano , he came ninth in the top ten for the first time. His best result so far was a second place in Sigulda . In the overall World Cup he was third in 2003/04 and seventh in 2004/05.

He was able to win the title at the Junior World Championships in 2003. In 2004 he won bronze at the Senior World Championships in Königssee , and in 2007 in St. Moritz he was tenth. At the European Championships in 2004, Kleber finished fourth and in 2005 won silver. For the Olympic Games he qualified in 2002 and was eleventh.

In 2003 Kleber became junior champion, in the senior division he was runner-up in 2001, 2004 and 2005 and in 2002, 2003 and 2006 he was third. In 2007 he became world champion in a team with Sandra Kiriasis , Berit Wiacker , Monique Riekewald , Karl Angerer and Marc Kühne in the first ever team competition of the Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Cup. After the 2006/07 season, Kleber ended his active career.
