Franz Kleber

Franz Kleber (born March 4, 1942 in Munich ) is a former German skeleton driver .

Franz Kleber was one of the most successful German skeleton pilots in the 1980s. His greatest success was winning the silver medal behind the Austrian Gert Elsässer at the second European Skeleton Championships , which were held in Königssee in 1982 . Between 1981 and 1983, as well as 1985 and 1987, Kleber was German champion five times . In 1980 he was runner- up behind Helmut Spieß , in 1986 behind Peter Strittmatter , and third in 1984. Thus, Kleber was eight times in a row among the top three of the German championship. He started for the BSC Munich , whose 2nd chairman he is today. Kleber is a master tiler with his own business and lives in Krailling . His son Frank Kleber was also a successful skeleton pilot.
