Helmut Spieß (* 20th century) is a former German skeleton athlete .

Helmut Spieß was one of the best German skeleton pilots in the second half of the 1970s. He achieved his first national success at the German Championships in 1977, where he came third behind Rudi Häusler and Peter Paldele . Two years later he was only defeated by Häusler. In 1980, Spieß was able to end serial master Häusler's winning streak and win the title of German champion.
