Martin Brugger (born May 6, 1982 ) is an Austrian skeleton driver .

Martin Brugger is a student and starts for the BSC Stubai . He is trained by Renato Bussola . He has been driving skeleton since 2002. He made his international debut in the race for the Tyrolean Championship in 2002, where he finished fifth. In December of that year he drove for the first time in the Skeleton European Cup in Winterberg and came in seventh place. The Austrian finished fifth in the 2003 Junior World Championship in Königssee . In 2004 Brugger narrowly missed a medal at the national championships, finishing fourth. In 2005 he won bronze at the Universiade in Igls and came fourth at the Junior World Championships in Winterberg. In December, the Innsbrucker achieved his best result in this competition with second place in the European Cup race at Königssee. He was then able to make his debut in the Skeleton World Cup on the track shortly afterwards and finished seventh in the first race. In the overall ranking of the European Cup , he finished second behind Jon Montgomery . For the 2006/07 season Brugger moved up permanently in the Skeleton World Cup and came in his first race in Calgary in 26th place. But he could not achieve any outstanding results in the season. After taking 13th place at the European Skeleton Championships in 2007 at Königssee, Brugger slipped back into the European Cup and later back into the newly created Skeleton Intercontinental Cup . The Austrian mostly achieved top ten placements in both competitions. In the overall ranking of the 2007/08 European Cup , Brugger finished sixth. In 2008 he also won the bronze medal at the Austrian state championships behind Markus Penz and Matthias Guggenberger .
