Daniel Mächler (born November 28, 1974 in Wägital ) is a Swiss skeleton driver .

Daniel Mächler started skeleton in 2003 and has been a member of the national team since 2004. He is trained by Urs Vescoli and starts for the bobsleigh club Zürichsee . Before his skeleton career, he was a track and field athlete. He finished eleventh at the Swiss 400 meter championships in 1999. After he switched to skeleton in 2003, he also occasionally competed in bobsleigh and pushed Martin Galliker's four-man bobsleigh . The best result in the World Cup in 2003 was a 2nd place in St. Moritz . At the 2003 Bobsleigh World Championship in Lake Placid , the team finished seventh, and a year later in Königssee they were fifth.

He has been competing in the Skeleton World Cup since the 2005/2006 season , after winning one race in the European Skeleton Cup at the beginning of the season in Igls . Since then, he has been among the top ten of the World Cup several times, the best result being a second place in Igls in the 2007/2008 season . In the Skeleton Championship 2006 took Mächler sixth in the Skeleton World Cup 2007 , as has been the European Championships in St. Moritz, ranked eighth. He was also runner-up at the Swiss Championships in 2007 and won the title the following year. He finished the 2007 European Championship in Königssee as 12th, in 2008 in Cesana Pariol as 13th. At the 2008 World Championships in Altenberg , Mächler was 18th, with the team he reached sixth place. The 2008/09 season he mainly competes in the Skeleton Intercontinental Cup . In the European Cup he won two races in Igls at the end of 2009. In 2010 he finished third. In the 2010/11 season , Mächler competed regularly in the World Cup, and came 21st in the overall standings.
