Urs Vescoli

Urs Vescoli (born November 7, 1966 ) is a Swiss skeleton driver who later started for Australia and works as a trainer for the Swiss team.

Urs Vescoli is one of the veterans of the sport of skeleton. In 1985 he took part in the European Championships in Winterberg , where he won the bronze medal behind Nico Baracchi and Andy Schmid . In the World Cup he was one of the first participants. In 1990 he won his only World Cup race in Calgary and finished second in the overall ranking of the season behind Christian Auer . Throughout the 1990s, he repeatedly achieved good placings such as a sixth place at the Skeleton World Championship in La Plagne in 1993 or in Calgary in 1996 , but was unable to place on the podium again apart from a runner-up title in Switzerland in 2002.

For the 2003/04 season he changed nationality and now competed for Australia. At the same time he became national coach for Switzerland. He was last active in the 2011/12 Skeleton World Cup , which he finished in 29th place.
