Alberto Polacchi

Alberto Polacchi (born January 8, 1973 in Domodossola ) is an Italian skeleton pilot .

Alberto Polacchi lives in Domodossola and is trained by Hansjörg Raffl . He first appeared in the 1999 national skeleton championships and finished sixth. In November 2000 he made his international debut in 16th place in a race in Igls as part of the Skeleton European Cup . These two competitions should remain his main fields of activity until the 2003/04 season. In the European Cup he never made it into the top ten, in the national championships he barely missed the leap below the medal ranks in fourth and fifth place. In 2003/04 Polacchi was able to make his debut in the Skeleton World Cup in Calgary and was 29th. In the following years, he mostly competed in this competition, but without achieving significant placements. In 2005 , the Italian took part in the Skeleton World Championships in Calgary for the first time and finished 19th. In 2005, he also won the title of Italian champion for the first time, which he also won in the following two years. In January 2006 he achieved a very good international result for the first time in the European Cup in Igls, finishing second. In the 2007 World Cup, Polacchi achieved his best result to date on his home track in Cesana Pariol as 14th. He finished the 2007 Skeleton World Championship in St. Moritz as 21st and the 2007 European Skeleton Championship in Königssee as 17th. In 2009 he was Italian runner-up.
