Skeleton World Championship 2005
The 2005 Skeleton World Championship was held on February 20 and 21, 2005 in Calgary . There was one event for women and one for men. Both were carried out in four runs.

Men
February 20 and 21, 2005 - A total of 28 out of 29 registered participants took part. Only the top 20 starters were allowed to take part in the fourth and final race. The former German and now starting for the Netherlands Dirk Matschenz did not compete after the first round. The winner was Canadian Jeff Pain , who, apart from the second race, set the fastest times in all rounds. In the second run, the later silver medalist Gregor Stähli set the fastest time. Jeff Pain won the title for the second time since 2003 .

February 20 and 21, 2005 - A total of 23 participants were registered, the British Shelley Rudman was disqualified before the first run. Only the 20 best-placed starters were allowed to take part in the fourth and final race. Maya Pedersen , who celebrated her second world championship title after 2001 , set the fastest time in the first and third races and the second best time in the other two runs. The other two runs were won by silver medalist Noelle Pikus-Pace , who also achieved the second-best time in the third run. In the end, the first two places were only a tenth of a second apart. For the German participants, the World Cup was quite successful, all three starters were among the top eight. The second Swiss starter also made it into the top ten. Austrians were not at the start.
