Eiko Nakayama ( Japanese 中山 英 子 , Nakayama Eiko ; born September 28, 1970 in Matsumoto ) is a Japanese skeleton pilot .

She studied social sciences at Waseda University . Then she worked for the Shinano Mainichi Shimbun. Eiko Nakayama has been a skeleton player since 1999 and lives and trains in Nagano Prefecture . She made her international debut at the age of 30 in the European Cup . In a race in Igls she reached a good sixth place, after which she was used in the World Cup . She contested her first race in December 2000 in Winterberg , where she finished 22nd. In 2002 she took part in the Olympic skeleton competitions, which were held for the first time for women . In Salt Lake City , she reached twelfth place. In December 2002, Nakayama came ninth in Lake Placid for the first time in the top 10 in a World Cup race . In her home town of Nagano, she started at the world championships of the season and finished 12th. A year later she was able to improve by one place in Königssee . In 2006 she competed at the Olympic Games for a second time and came in 14th.

Also in the winters 2006/07 and 2007/08 Nakayama mainly started in the World Cup, but did not reach any single-digit placements. In January 2009, in addition to the World Cup , she took part in the Intercontinental Cup for the first time and came third in Königssee. In 2009/10 she returned to the World Cup, but did not get past two 14th places. In the following winters, Nakayama started in the America's Cup 2011/12 and the European Cup 2012/13, among others, and achieved mostly single-digit results. In January 2014, at the age of 43, she returned to the World Cup and finished 16th in Königssee as the best result, which she was unable to beat in her five World Cup appearances in the 2014/15 season .

Eiko Nakayama won four gold, five silver and three bronze medals at Japanese championships between 2004 and 2016.
