Skeleton World Championship 2012

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 22nd Skeleton World Championship took place from February 13th to 26th, 2012 in Lake Placid , United States . It was held parallel to the 2012 Bobsleigh World Championship. After 1997 and 2009, Lake Placid is hosting the Skeleton World Championship for the third time.

St. Moritz was originally chosen as the venue on June 9, 2008 by the congress of the International Bobsleigh and Sledge Federation (FIBT) held in Chianciano Terme . On May 31, 2009, at the FIBT Congress in Moscow, the 2013 World Bobsleigh Championship was awarded to Lake Placid. However, the venues were changed in September 2010. The change was made for cost reasons, as a training week on the Olympic course in Krasnaya Polyana is planned for the end of the 2012/13 season and significantly lower transport costs are incurred from Switzerland.
