Svetlana Valerjewna Wassiljewa , b. Trunowa ( Russian Светлана Валерьевна Васильева , born Трунова, with the FIBT Svetlana Vasilyeva ; born  June 7, 1983 ) is a Russian skeleton pilot .

Career

The Muscovite Swetlana Trunowa made her debut in the 2004/05 season in the Skeleton World Cup . In her first race in Winterberg , she was 25.

For the first time, she drove into the top positions during the 2006 Olympic Games . In Turin she made eleventh place. In Nagano, Trunowa achieved the same ranking in January 2007. The 2007 European Skeleton Championships in Königssee , where she finished seventh, and the 2008 European Skeleton Championships in Cesana , where she won the silver medal , were even more successful . At the 2008 World Cup in Altenberg , she was tenth.

Also in the winters of 2008/09 and 2009/10 Trunowa took part regularly in the World Cup, but rarely achieved single-digit results. The outstanding seasonal performances were third places in 2008 in Igls and Cesana and in 2009 in Winterberg . She achieved her best position in the overall World Cup in 2009/10 with ninth place. At the European Skeleton Championships in St. Moritz in 2009 , the Russian was fourth and only missed a medal by one place. She also achieved a good result in Igls in 2010 at the European Championships as fifth. Trunowa took part in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , where she finished 16th. In the 2010/11 season she took part in four World Cup races and achieved two results in the top 10. In the overall classification, she was 19th.

Since 2011 she has had the surname Vasilyeva after marriage. In the winter of 2011/12 she first competed in the Intercontinental Cup and finished in 7th, 5th and 6th place in the first four races of the season and was disqualified once. Then she was used in the last two races of the season of the European Cup , where she finished third in Winterberg and finished 24th in the overall standings. This was followed by two appearances in the World Cup and two further top 10 places in the Intercontinental Cup . At the 2012 World Championships , she finished 14th. She also took part in various racing series in the 2012/13 season. Her best placings were in the North American Cup twice 7th place in Calgary , 11th place in the World Cup in Altenberg and 4th place in the Intercontinental Cup also in Altenberg. She took part in the Skeleton World Championship in 2013 , where she finished 9th in the team and 11th in the individual.

In the 2013/14 season , she competed in four of eight races of the season in the Intercontinental Cup and finished third once. In the overall ranking she was 16th; in the second half of the season it was no longer used. In the winter of 2014/15 she first competed again in the Intercontinental Cup , where she was seventh, and then started in all eight races of the season of the World Cup , with her best result being ninth and she was 18th overall.
