With its work, the SAXEED start-up network aims to firmly anchor the topic of business start-ups in universities and research institutions. The aim is to create a start-up-friendly climate at universities, technical colleges and scientific institutes in south-west Saxony . SAXEED is about confronting students and employees who can in principle imagine self-employment with the topic as early as possible. The project aims to familiarize these people with the basic requirements and to provide them with the necessary specialist knowledge in good time before the foundation. In addition, SAXEED offers lectures, seminars and workshops on the subject of business start-ups at the universities mentioned above, from creating business plans to financing and soft skills. These courses are intended to develop a fundamental understanding of start-ups and their framework conditions. The participants learn start-up-relevant skills and practical skills in business management. In addition to offering courses, SAXEED actively supports start-up projects from the participating universities. By mid-2007, almost 90 companies had emerged from around 170 start-up ideas. A total of over 300 jobs have been created by then.
