Shinsuke Tayama

Shinsuke Tayama ( Japanese 田 山 真 輔 , Tayama Shinsuke ; born October 18, 1982 in Fujinomiya ) is a Japanese skeleton pilot .

Shinsuke Tayama began playing skeleton in 2001 and has been a member of the national team in his home country since 2006. The Japanese competed in his first international races in November 2004 as part of the Skeleton America's Cup in Calgary and finished 22nd and 26th. At the Winter Universiade 2005 in Igls , he just missed a medal in fourth place and was able to win athletes like Chris Type , Leaving Alexander Mutowin and Frank Rommel behind. At the Junior World Championships only a little later he came in 14th. A year later Tayama was 15th at the Junior World Championships in Igls. In January 2007, the Japanese debuted 17th in Nagano in the Skeleton World Cup . More races followed, but it should remain his best placement in this series of competitions to date. Tayama first drew international attention when he finished second behind Sergej Smirnow in the 2007/08 European Skeleton Cup race in Cesana Torinese . Since 2008 the Japanese competes in the Skeleton Intercontinental Cup , where sixth place in Calgary in January 2008 was the best result so far. At the Japanese Championships in 2007 he was runner-up behind Kazuhiro Koshi .

In 2010, along with Kazuhiro Koshi and Nozomi Komuro, he was part of Japan's skeleton and bobsleigh selection at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver with Masaru Inada as coach.
