Chris Type (born October 5, 1981 in Merthyr Tydfil ) is a former British skeleton rider .

Career

Type has been running the sport since 2003, as part of the British national team since 2004. He was trained by Mark Wood. The Brit made his international debut in November 2004, finishing 21st at a European Skeleton Cup race in Igls . In his third race in Koenigssee he achieved a result in the top ten for the first time in fifth place. Shortly thereafter, he was fourth in the British Championships and fifth in the Junior World Championships. In 2005/06 he drove back to the European Cup, but without building on his good results from the previous year. But he won the bronze medal behind Adam Pengilly and Anthony Sawyer at the British Championships . In 2006/07 Type first competed in the Skeleton America's Cup and finished in single digits in all races. He came on the podium three times and was third in the overall standings behind Andy Wood and Matthew Antoine . He then finished second in a European Cup race in Winterberg and thus achieved his best placement in this competition to date. In the 2007/08 season Type was used in the newly created Skeleton Intercontinental Cup and often achieved good placements, the best result was a third place in Cesana Pariol . He was seventh overall. He also started in preparation for Intercontinental Cup races in two America's Cup races and finished second in Park City . In the 2008/09 season , Type won an Interconti race in Cesana Pariol. He also came in second and third place each. In the overall standings he only had to admit defeat to the outstanding Mirsad Halilovic , who won four of the eight races of the season. He finally won the overall standings the following season . He won three races of the season and was second and third twice. At the 2010 Winter Olympics traveled Type in reserve.

For the 2010/11 season, Type started in the World Cup for the first time and ended up in 11th place overall. He finished eleventh at the 2011 Skeleton World Championship in Königssee. After the winter he ended his active career and switched to the coaching staff of the British.
