Michael Douglas (skeleton pilot)

Michael "Mike" Douglas (born March 31, 1971 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian skeleton driver .

Michael Douglas lives in Calgary and is an X-ray assistant at Foothills Hospital . At first he did football and athletics . He has been part of the Canadian national team since 2004 and has also competed in races in Europe since 2005. Douglas made his debut in 2003 as part of the America's Cup . At the end of 2004 he achieved top ten placements there for the first time, including third place in November 2005, his best placement on his home track in Calgary. He finished fourth in the overall standings. Then Douglas drove the 2004/05 season in the Skeleton European Cup . He came in single digits in all races and was fifth in the overall ranking of the competition. The Canadian competed in his first skeleton World Cup race in January 2007 in Nagano , where he finished 18th. In his second race in this competition, Douglas finished ninth in Cesana and thus achieved his best placement to date and the first result in the top ten in this competition. At the end of the season he won the bronze medal at the Canadian championships.
