Ben Sandford (born March 12, 1979 in Rotorua ) is a New Zealand skeleton pilot .

Ben Sandford made his debut in a race in the America's Cup in Lake Placid in November 2002 , where he finished 18th. In December he competed in the European Skeleton Cup for the first time in Winterberg and finished ninth. The following season he made his debut in the Skeleton World Cup in Calgary as 12th . In 2004 he first took part in the Skeleton World Championships in Königssee , where he was 21st. In November 2004 he won an America's Cup race for the first time in Calgary. In December he was also third in a European Cup race in Königssee. Since the 2005/06 season, Sandford mainly competed in the World Cup and in November 2005 in Calgary for the first time as seventh place in the top ten. At the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin , he was tenth. In the 2007/08 season , Sandford came fourth in Winterberg for the first time near the podium in a World Cup race. At the World Championships , he finished 13th. At the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver , he was eleventh. His greatest success to date came in the 2010/11 season when he finished third at the World Cup in St. Moritz and was on the podium for the first time. At the 2011 World Championships in Königssee , he was twelfth. A year later he won the bronze medal at the 2012 World Championships in Lake Placid.

Ben's uncle Bruce Sandford was the 1992 skeleton world champion.
