Heinz Koriath

Heinz Koriath (born February 22, 1952 in Nidzica , Poland) is a German legal scholar with a chair for criminal law, criminal procedure law, legal philosophy and legal theory at Saarland University .

Life

Koriath moved to West Germany in 1961 at the age of nine. After graduating from high school, he studied law, mathematics and philosophy at the University of Bielefeld and the Georg-August University of Göttingen, among others . In 1987 he did his doctorate with Fritz Loos in Göttingen on causality , condition theory and psychological causality and completed his habilitation there in 1993 with the text Basics of Criminal Allocation . In 1995 he accepted a position at Saarland University . There he holds the chair for criminal law , criminal procedural law , legal philosophy and legal theory and director of the Institute for White Collar Criminal Law as well as International and European Criminal Law.

Research and Teaching

His work and interests are in the field of criminal law dogmatics and ethics , namely in the field of legal philosophy and legal positivism .
