Lea Ann Parsley
Lea Ann Parsley (born June 12, 1968 in Logan , West Virginia ) is a former American skeleton pilot .
Lea Ann Parsley only started skeleton in 1998 at a relatively advanced age. She lived in Granville during the season , otherwise in Logan, and was trained by Ryan Davenport and Greg Sand. In November 1999 she competed in her first World Cup race in Calgary and finished fifth. Her best World Cup result was a second place, which she achieved for the first time in 2000 in Lillehammer and then three more times. In the 1999/2000 season, Parsley was fourth in the overall World Cup, sixth in 2000/01 and fourth again in 2001/02.
She took part in the world championships for the first time in 2000 in Igls and reached sixth place. She achieved this again the following year in Calgary and in 2005 in Königssee . In 2002 she took part in the first women's skeleton competition at the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City . Here she won the silver medal behind Tristan Gale . At US championships she won the title in 2002 and 2005, was runner-up behind Tricia Stumpf in 2000 and third in 2001. In the North American championships she won bronze in 1996 and 2001 and won the title in 2002.
For the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , Parsley could not prevail against Katie Uhlaender and Noelle Pikus-Pace , but took part in the games as a trainer within the US team.
