Klaus Peter Brähmig (born August 1, 1957 in Königstein / Saxon Switzerland ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending the Polytechnische Oberschule (POS) in Papstdorf , Brähmig completed an apprenticeship as an electrical engineer in Pirna from 1974 to 1977 and then did his military service in the National People's Army until 1978 . From 1980 to 1983 he trained as a master craftsman at the Dresden Chamber of Crafts .

Brähmig is Protestant , married and has one daughter.

Political party

Brähmig joined the CDU in January 1990. He is a member of the board of the CDU district association of Saxon Switzerland .

MP

From 1990 to 2017 Brähmig was a member of the German Bundestag . From 1998 to 2009 he was chairman of the tourism working group of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group . From 2009 to 2015 he was chairman of the tourism committee of the German Bundestag. Since 2016 he has been its deputy chairman.

Klaus Brähmig is always as directly selected delegates of the constituency Pirna - Sebnitz - Bischofswerda and since 2002 the Osterzgebirge - constituency Saxon Switzerland in the Bundestag drawn in. In the 2017 federal election he was defeated in his long-term constituency by the then AfD party chairwoman Frauke Petry .

Awards

  • On April 20, 2018, Klaus Brähmig was awarded the Great Gold Medal for Services to the Republic of Austria.
  • On June 16, 2018 Klaus Brähmig received the Golden Decoration of Honor from the East Prussian Landsmannschaft in Ostróda .
