Paul Breuer (born June 25, 1950 in Berghausen , Wittgenstein district ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and was district administrator of the Siegen-Wittgenstein district from 2003 to 2014 .

Life

After graduating from Johannes-Althusius-Gymnasium in 1968, Breuer did his military service in 1969 ; his current rank is major in the reserve . In the same year he became a member of the CDU . After completing his military service, he studied at what was then the Siegen University (today Siegen University ). From 1971 to 1973 he was RCDS chairman there. From 1971 to 1974 Breuer completed a degree in education and passed his first state examination. From 1973 to 1975 he was elected district chairman of the Junge Union . In 1974 he became a secondary school teacher and passed the second state examination in 1975. Breuer lives in Siegen-Geisweid , he is married and has two children.

Political career

In 1975 Breuer resigned as JU district chairman, as he was elected as a member of the district council of the Siegen-Wittgenstein district. From 1979 to 1992 Breuer was a city councilor for the city of Siegen. Until 1980 he worked as a teacher. This year he was elected to the German Bundestag via the CDU's state list in North Rhine-Westphalia . In the elections from 1983 to 1994 he won the constituency of Siegen-Wittgenstein directly. In 1998 and 2002 he moved back into the Bundestag via the state list.

Paul Breuer was defense policy spokesman for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group from 1992 to 2003 . Since 1981 he has also been a member of the state board of the CDU Westphalia-Lippe / North Rhine-Westphalia. He held his mandate as a member of the German Bundestag until 2003, when he was elected district administrator for the Siegen-Wittgenstein district. As district administrator, he was re-elected district administrator on August 30, 2009 with 52.92%. On June 15, 2014, Paul Breuer was voted out of the runoff election with 40.52% of the vote; his successor is Andreas Müller from the SPD.

On September 17, 1995, a bomb attack on Breuer and his family, which was probably carried out by a left-wing extremist " anti-imperialist cell " in front of their house in Siegen-Geisweid, failed .
