Hannah Neise (born May 26, 2000 ) is a German skeleton pilot . In 2016 she took part in the Winter Youth Olympic Games for Germany .

Career

Before the 2014/15 season, Hannah Neise took part in the German skeleton championships for the first time and finished fourteenth on her home track in Winterberg after two runs. In the 2014/15 season she made her first international appearances in the European Cup. At the age of 14 she started on November 21, 2014 in the European Cup competition in the Norwegian city of Lillehammer . She took eleventh place and a day later she took this place again. There were no further appearances in the European Cup during the season. In the end she finished 26th in the overall ranking of the Skeleton European Cup with 60 points .

For Hannah Neise, the focus in the 2015/16 season was on the Youth Olympic Games and that is why she took part in the Youth Series, which was organized by the IBSF and through which one could qualify for the Games, tel. In the first competition on December 4, 2015, she finished fifth and missed the podium. A day later, she took second place behind Ashleigh Fay Pittaway in the second competition on the bobsleigh Igls artificial ice rink in Innsbruck . On December 16 and 17, two further competitions of the Youth Series took place in Lillehammer and they took third place in each case and thus qualified for the Winter Youth Olympic Games.

At the German championship, which was held shortly before the turn of the year in the Saxon community of Altenberg , Hannah Neise took ninth place. At the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games on February 19, 2016, after two races, she finished second behind the British Ashleigh Fay Pittaway , who competed for Germany until 2015, and ahead of the French Agathe Bessard , thus securing the silver medal.

Before the 2016/17 season, she finished fifth at the German Skeleton Championships on November 26, 2016 on the Königssee artificial ice rink . In the season, Hannah Neise started again in the European Skeleton Cup . On November 4, 2016 she finished sixth in Sigulda for the first time a top ten place in the European Cup. On November 10th and 11th, she completed her first competitions in the Skeleton Intercontinental Cup at the competitions in Innsbruck . While she narrowly missed a top ten place on November 10 with eleventh place, she finished ninth on November 11.

On November 17, 2016, Hannah Neise started again in the Skeleton European Cup in Königssee and achieved her first podium with second place behind Maxi Just and in front of Janine Becker . On January 12, 2017, she was able to secure a podium place in the European Cup for the second time at the Olympia Bobrun St. Moritz – Celerina in St. Moritz . She took third place behind Maxi Just and Tamara Seer . At the end of the season she finished eighth in the overall European Cup ranking with 205 points and 28th place in the overall Intercontinental Cup ranking with 144 points.

At the German Junior Skeleton Championships, which were held on February 18, 2017 in Altenberg on the Altenberg sledge and bobsleigh track , she took third place behind Maxi Just and Corinna Leipold and thus secured the bronze medal. On December 23, 2017, she won the bronze medal behind Tina Hermann and Sophia Griebel at the German skeleton championship in the 2017/18 season on her home track in Winterberg .

After the turn of the year, Hannah Neise was used in the Skeleton Intercontinental Cup 2017/18 and was able to take the podium for the first time on January 12, 2018 at the competition in Altenberg . Behind Sophia Griebel and Lelde Priedulēna , she took third place. At the second competition in Altenberg she took fifth place. With 346 points she took sixth place in the overall ranking of the Intercontinental Cup.

In the 2018/19 season Hannah Neise was used again in the European Cup and she was able to achieve a podium place again in the first competition of the season in Innsbruck . She took second place behind Madelaine Smith and in front of Janine Becker . On December 6, 2018, she celebrated her first World Cup victory on the track in Königssee , winning ahead of Janine Becker and Ashleigh Fay Pittaway . The next day she took third place in the second competition in Königssee. At the German championships, which were held on December 22, 2018 in Altenberg, Hannah Neise took eighth place.

In the Skeleton European Cup , Hannah Neise was also able to confirm her podium places in Altenberg and took third and second place on December 11th and 12th, 2019. On January 26, 2019, she crashed in Sigulda due to a driving error and was eliminated from the competition. Nonetheless, she secured second place in the overall ranking behind her team and club colleague Janine Becker with 405 points. She also qualified for the 2019 Skeleton Junior World Championships , which took place in Königssee . There she took seventh place. At the German Junior Championship, which was held on February 23, 2019 on her home track in Winterberg , she won gold ahead of Susanne Kreher and Corinna Leipold .

Before the 2019/20 season, Hannah Neise finished seventh in the German championship in Königssee . Thanks to her performances from the previous year, she qualified for the Intercontinental Cup and took second place behind Susanne Kreher and ahead of Katie Uhlaender in her first competition of the season in Winterberg . On December 14, 2019, she won a race in the Intercontinental Cup for the first time. In Königssee she won ahead of Susanne Kreher and Renata Chusina . At the end of the season she finished ninth in the overall ranking of the Intercontinental Cup with 406 points. She also qualified for the 2020 Junior World Championships , which were held in the Veltins ice arena in Winterberg. Behind Anna Fernstädt from the Czech Republic and Susanne Kreher from Germany, she won the bronze medal in this competition.
