Ashleigh Fay Pittaway (born May 23, 2000 in Munich ) is a German - British skeleton skier . From the 2010/11 season to the 2014/15 season it started for Germany and from 2015/16 for the United Kingdom.

Career

Ashleigh Pittaway started playing skeleton for Germany in Berchtesgaden at the age of 10 in the Bavarian Bobsleigh and Sled Association . Since she was living in Munich at the time, she started for BSC Munich . At the beginning of her career, she won the bronze medal mixed at the Bavarian Championships at Königssee in the 2010/11 season and was second and fourth in the international Challenge Cup in the schoolchildren category. One season later she was first in Innsbruck in the international Challenge Cup and in the EDEKA Cup at Königssee.

In the 2013/14 season she was fifth in the women's category at the Bavarian Championships at Königssee and won first place four times in various competitions. In the 2014/15 season she won first place at the Tirol Cup in the Youth B category in Igls . At the open Saxony championships in Altenberg she finished sixth, at the German championships 2015 in Winterberg on 13th place and at the German junior championships 2015 at Königssee in the youth category she won the silver medal.

In 2015 she moved from Germany to the British national team and has been racing for the United Kingdom ever since. In the 2015/16 season she also won first place in the Tirol Cup in the Youth B category in Igls. In all four qualifications for the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games , she won first place twice in Igls and twice in Lillehammer . Pittaway made her debut in the Intercontinental Cup 2015/16 in Igls and finished 15 and 16 and in the Intercontinental Cup overall ranking she was 20th. A week later she made her debut in the European Cup 2015/16 at Königssee, finishing third and fourth and in the overall European ranking them in 16th place. At the Junior World Championships 2016 in Winterberg, she came ninth. She won the gold medal at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer. After the good performances at the Winter Youth Olympic Games, she was nominated for the last World Cup race at Königssee and was 15th, in the overall World Cup ranking she came in 27th place and in the IBSF overall ranking on 42nd place.

In the 2016/17 season, she only contested the races in November 2016 in the Intercontinental Cup in Igls and on the Königssee, where she was ninth, 12th, third and second. In the Intercontinental Cup overall ranking she landed on 11th place and in the IBSF overall ranking on 44th place.

In the 2017/18 season she only played the first four World Cup stations in Lake Placid , Park City , Whistler and Winterberg and came in 19th place once and 21st place three times. She came in 28th place in the overall World Cup ranking. In the further course of the season she drove in the European Cup. In La Plagne she came in seventh place twice, in Altenberg in sixth place and Igls in 20th place, came 18th in the overall European Cup ranking and 41st in the IBSF overall ranking. She finished ninth at the Junior World Championships in St. Moritz and won the gold medal in the Youth B category at the 2018 Bavarian Open Championships at Königssee.

At the beginning of the 2018/19 season, she won the qualifying race in Winterberg in November 2018 and then competed in the four races in the Intercontinental Cup , in which she finished three times in seventh place and once in fourth place. In December 2018, she finished second and third in the European Cup at Königssee. She also made her North American Cup debut in January 2019 , won her first race in Calgary and finished fourth in race two. At the Intercontinental Cup in Park City she was fifth twice and in Lake Placid she came first and second. She won the bronze medal at her third Junior World Championships at Königssee. Then she competed in the World Cup races in Lake Placid and Calgary. At her first World Championships in Whistler in 2019 , she came in 16th place.
