Renata Rinatowna Chusina ( Russian Рената Ринатовна Хузина ; born May 15, 1994 in Neftekamsk ) is a Russian skeleton pilot. The IBSF carries it under the name Renata Khuzina .

Career

The former athlete switched to skeleton in 2011 and was allowed to compete in her first international competition on November 22, 2013, which was a race in the European Cup . In this competition she took eleventh place on the Altenberg racing sled and bobsleigh track . One day later she finished seventh in the second competition in Altenberg, her first top ten result in the European Skeleton Cup. After she finished fourth in Königssee on January 11, 2014 , she took her first podium a day later with third place behind Anna Fernstädt and Maxi Just on the Königssee artificial ice rink . At the end of the 2013/14 season she finished fifth in the overall ranking of the European Cup with 313 points. At the end of the season, she was allowed to compete for Russia at the Skeleton Junior World Championship 2014 in Winterberg and finished eighth as the second-best Russian.

After starting the 2014/15 season on January 21, 2014 with fourth place , she won a European Cup race for the first time in the second competition in Lillehammer . She relegated Kim Meylemans and Anastassija Schlapak to places two and three. On December 6, 2014, she took third place in the Veltins ice arena behind Elisabeth Vathje and Kendall Wesenberg, her next podium finish. At the end of the season she finished third in the overall ranking of the European Cup behind Kendall Wesenberg and Anastassija Schlapak.

In the European Cup 2015/16 she started on December 4, 2015 with a second place behind Olga Potylizyna and in front of Janina Becker on the Altenberg racing sled and bobsleigh track . A day later she took third place behind Maxi Just and Corinna Leipold at the second competition in Altenberg . After the turn of the year, she made her debut in Lake Placid in the Skeleton World Cup on January 8, 2016 and took 20th place in her first competition on the Mount Van Hoevenberg Olympic bobsleigh track . At the end of the season she finished 25th in the overall World Cup for the 2015/16 season with 340 points.

She started the 2016/17 season with the European Cup races in Sigulda on November 4, 2016 and she finished second behind Anna Fernstädt and in front of Lisa Hornung . The following week she made her debut in the Skeleton Intercontinental Cup on November 10th . She finished twelfth in the race in Innsbruck . One day later, she finished fifth in the second competition on the Bob-Rodel Igls artificial ice rink, her first top ten result in the Intercontinental Cup. After she contested two more races in the Intercontinental Cup, she started again in the European Cup competitions in Altenberg. On January 20, 2017, she finished third behind Tamara Seer and Luisa Hornung on the Altenberg racing sled and bobsleigh track . For the second and last time, she was allowed to take part in the Junior Skeleton World Championships for Russia and finished second at the 2017 Skeleton Junior World Championship behind her teammate Julija Kanakina and ahead of Maxi Just from Germany. With the victory of her teammate, she was able to qualify as the fourth Russian starter for the Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships , which were held in Königssee in 2017 . At her first world championships, she took 20th place on the Königssee ice rink , making it the third best Russian woman.

In the 2017/18 season she started in all competitions of the Skeleton World Cup and was able to finish her best with 13th place on November 24, 2017 in Whistler , on January 5, 2018 in Altenberg and on January 19, 2018 in Königssee Get results of the season. The Skeleton World Cup in Innsbruck on December 15, 2017 was also rated as the European Skeleton Championship . While she finished 18th in the World Cup, she finished the European Championship in 14th place. At the end of the season she finished 19th overall with 678 points.

In the 2018/19 season she was able to achieve a top ten result for the first time in eighth place at the first competition of the season in Sigulda on December 9, 2018. In Innsbruck she was 14th in the World Cup race on January 18, 2019 and she finished eleventh in the Race-in-Race European Championship. At the end of the season she finished tenth in the overall World Cup. At the end of the season she was allowed to take part in the bobsleigh and skeleton world championships for Russia for the second time . At the World Championships at the Whistler Sliding Center , she finished 14th.

At the beginning of the 2019/20 season, she started in Intercontinental Cup competitions . On the local track in Sochi , she took second place behind Susanne Kreher on both November 23 and 24, 2019 . On December 14, 2019, she took third place in Königssee, behind Hannah Neise and Susanne Kreher, again on a podium and was allowed to compete in World Cup competitions again after the turn of the year. At the World Cup in Sigulda , which was also rated as the European Championship, she finished sixth in both competitions. At the end of the season, she took part in the 2020 Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships in Altenberg , and after four runs she took eleventh place on the Altenberg racing sled and bobsleigh track .
