Susanne "Susi" Kreher (born December 20, 1998 ) is a German skeleton pilot and former athlete .

Career

Susanne Kreher switched from athletics to skeleton in 2015 and starts for the BSC Sachsen Oberbärenburg , where she is trained by David Friedrich, the state trainer of Saxony. She made her debut in the European Skeleton Cup on November 10, 2016 in Innsbruck on the Igls bobsleigh rink and finished sixth. Her first and so far only victory in the European Cup was achieved on January 12, 2018 on her home track in Altenberg . In the ENSO ice channel , she won the competition ahead of Corinna Leipold and Alina Tararychenkova . Through her achievements, she qualified for the first time for the skeleton junior world championships, which were held in 2018 at the Olympia Bobrun St. Moritz-Celerina . She secured the bronze medal behind Anna Fernstädt and Julija Kanakina .

In the 2018/19 season she started in the Intercontinental Cup and made her debut on November 23, 2018 in the Veltins ice arena in Winterberg . She finished sixth in her first competition and she was able to win her third race in the Intercontinental Cup. On January 19, 2019, she won the competition in Park City ahead of Anna Fernstädt and Kelly Curtis . She also managed to win the last race of the season on January 20, 2019 in Lake Placid . She prevailed over Ashleigh Fay Pittaway and Anna Fernstädt. Over the entire season she collected 626 points and thus finished fourth in the overall standings. She also took part in the 2019 Junior World Championship on the Königssee artificial ice rink in Schönau am Königssee , finishing in sixth place.

Before the 2019/20 season, she was able to win the German push championships, which were held on November 5, 2019, ahead of Sophia Griebel and Tina Hermann . In addition, on November 9, 2019, Susanne Kreher was able to secure the bronze medal at the German skeleton championships behind Tina Hermann and Jacqueline Lölling . She will also compete in the Intercontinental Cup in the 2019/20 season and she got off to a good start. She won the first two competitions on the Olympic track in Sochi. In the first competition on November 23, 2019, she won ahead of Renata Chusina and Alena Frolova . One day later she prevailed over Renata Chusina and Madelaine Smith . On the following Intercontinental Cup weekend she was able to celebrate her fifth victory in this racing series in Winterberg . She won the competition on December 7, 2019 ahead of Hannah Neise and Katie Uhlaender . At the end of the season she finished second in the overall standings of the Intercontinental Cup 2019/20 behind Kelly Curtis and ahead of Katie Uhlaender.

Because Sophia Griebel was absent due to an illness, Susanne Kreher celebrated her debut in the World Cup on January 17, 2020 . At the competition in Innsbruck on the artificial ice rink Bob-Rodel Igls she took sixth place. With the 176 points that she was able to collect in the race, she finished 28th in the overall World Cup. At the Skeleton Junior World Championship 2020 , which was held in the Veltins ice arena in Winterberg , she took second place behind Anna Fernstädt and ahead of Hannah Neise . During the competition, she sustained an injury and therefore missed the opportunity to qualify for the 2020 Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships in Altenberg in an internal duel .
