1961 World Bobsleigh Championship

The 20th World Bobsleigh Championship was held from February 11th to 18th, 1961 in Lake Placid , United States . Two-man bobsleigh world champions were the Italians Eugenio Monti and Sergio Siorpaes . Monti also won the four-man championship with Bob Italy I.

Two-man bobsleigh

The four World Championship races were held on February 11 and 12, 1961. Monti won for the fifth time in a row, setting a record that has not yet been exceeded. Bobsleigh Germany II with Hans Rösch and his brakeman Theodor Bauer fell in the last run, with Rösch breaking his arm. He fell out for the four-way championship.

Four-man bobsleigh

The four-man bobsleigh world championship was decided with only two races on Saturday, February 18, 1961, as the runs scheduled for Sunday had to be canceled due to a blow-in.
