Maria Adela Constantin

Maria Adela Constantin (born August 28, 1991 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian bobsleigh driver .

Life

As a child, Constantin was diagnosed with a hollow back, which is why she came to swim. She later switched to athletics, and in the winter of 2010 she was approached by Marius Ene to switch to bobsleigh. She attended the bobsleigh school in Innsbruck because there is no bobsleigh track in Romania, and Paul Neagu became her trainer.

With Andreea Grecu as a pusher, Constantin was 21st at the 2013 Bobsleigh World Championship . In 2014 the duo Constantin / Grecu took part in the Olympic Games in Sochi, where they finished 17th. During the 2014/15 European Bobsleigh Cup , the two achieved three third places and an overall European Cup victory. At the 2015 Bobsleigh World Championships , they were ninth in both the two-man bobsleigh and with the team. The duo also finished ninth at the 2016 European Bobsleigh Championships . In the 2015/16 World Cup season , Constantin was ninth overall.

At the 2017 European Bobsleigh Championship , Constantin finished ninth with the pusher Erika Halai . At the 2017 Bobsleigh World Cup , Andreea Grecu was again Maria Constantin's pusher. With the international team, consisting of the Romanians and Germans Alexander Gassner , Anna Fernstädt , Richard Oelsner and Marc Rademacher , she won the bronze medal at Königssee. At the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang , Constantin and Grecu finished in 15th place.

Constantin's sister Ana Constantin was sixth in the two-man bobsleigh at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games .
