Valerie Fleming
Valerie Fleming (born December 18, 1976 in San Francisco ) is an American bobsleigh athlete .
Valerie Fleming lives in Foster City and is trained by Bill Tavares . She has been active in bobsleigh since 2003. Previously, she was a track and field athlete and achieved good results on the short distances and in the javelin during her studies at the University of California . After injuries and the impending end of her career as an athlete, she took a test drive with Jean Racine and, despite initial problems, switched to bobsleigh. However, she then drove with the pilot Shauna Rohbock . In the period that followed, she almost invariably finished in the top ten at her starts in the Bobsleigh World Cup , often even on the podium. Twice, at the beginning of the 2006/06 season in Calgary and Park City , she won World Cup races alongside Rohbock and finished second in the overall standings behind Sandra Kiriasis' bobsleigh team . The greatest success of his career, however, was winning the silver medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin . There were also bronze medals at the Bobsleigh World Championships in Calgary in 2005 and in St. Moritz in 2007 .
