Petra Lammert

Petra Lammert (born March 3, 1984 in Freudenstadt , Baden-Wuerttemberg ) is a former German bobsleigh athlete and athlete who won the bronze medal in the shot put at the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg .

Petra Lammert is 1.77 m tall and weighs 78 kg. Until 2005 she started for VfB Stuttgart , in 2006 she switched to SC Neubrandenburg and was trained there by Dieter Kollark .

At the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg, Petra Lammert won the bronze medal with a width of 19.17 m. As a medal favorite, Lammert also traveled to the World Championships in Osaka in 2007. However, she was only fifth with 19.33 m.

In 2008 she suffered a training accident that led to protracted injury problems in her right elbow, so that she had to cancel her participation in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and the 2009 World Championships in Berlin. In March 2009 she won the gold medal at the European Indoor Championships in Turin with a width of 19.66 m.

In November 2010, due to persistent elbow problems, she ended her athletics career at the age of 26.

Bobsleigh

In 2011, Petra Lammert switched to bobsleigh and was pushing bobsleigh pilot Sandra Kiriasis . In her first World Cup outing in the 2011/2012 season in Innsbruck-Igls , she came second. By winning the silver medal at the European and World Championships in the same year, she crowned her start in this sport.

Problems with the intervertebral disc of her lumbar spine required an operation in October 2013. When she continued to experience pain in the same place during exercise, the operation had to be repeated in January 2014. Their possible start at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi was no longer possible. Because of her back problems, she ended her career in bobsleigh.
