biography

The 1998 junior world champion in the shot put won silver at the World Indoor Championships in Lisbon in 2001 and finished seventh at the Edmonton World Championships . In 2002 Astaptschuk was fifth at the European Championships in Munich , and in 2003 she won silver at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham and the World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis .

At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , she was fourth; in the same year she won the athletics world finals . In March 2005 she became the new European indoor champion in Madrid , set her personal best on July 27th in Minsk with 21.09 m and won the title at the World Championships in Helsinki in the same year . At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka , she won the silver medal. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 , she achieved the bronze medal behind Valerie Vili (NZL) and her compatriot Natallja Michnewitsch with a width of 19.86 m .

Astaptschuk won the title at the 2010 European Championships in Barcelona . At the 2009 World Championships in Berlin , she again won the silver medal. At the Olympic Games in London in 2012 she won the women's shot put with a width of 21.36 m. Nadseja Astaptschuk had a competition weight of 90 kg with a height of 1.80 m.

2012 doping ban

Her gold medal was her just one day after the end of the 2012 Olympic Games again denied because they positively to the anabolic steroid during the Games in two samples Methenolon had been tested.
