Marianne Werner

Marianne Werner , b. Schulze-Entrup (born January 4, 1924 in Dülmen ), is a former German athlete and Olympic medalist who was one of the world's best shot putters and discus throwers in the 1950s . While she won two Olympic medals in the shot put and was once European champion, she did not achieve any medal ranks with the discus.

Athletic career

Marianne Werner first started for the Münster gymnastics community , then for SC Preußen Münster , in 1952 for SSV 04 Wuppertal and then for SC Greven 09 . In her active days she was 1.74 m tall and weighed 83 kg. She was trained by her then husband Erich Werner, who in turn was a successful athlete (especially a javelin) in the 1930s. In 1961 both published a textbook on the “Methodology of Throwing Disciplines for Schools and Clubs”.
