Eva Wilms

Eva Wilms , married Eva Rapp , (born July 28, 1952 in Essen ) is a former German athlete and was then a trainer. She has been retired since 2018.

Career

Eva Wilms comes from the Steele district of Essen . It started for the ESV Neuaubing , from 1978 for the LAC Quelle Fürth . In her active days she was 1.80 m tall and weighed 83 kg. The shot putter took part for the Federal Republic of Germany in the 1976 Olympic Games (seventh place: 19.29 m) and the 1978 European Championships (fifth place: 19.20 m). At European Athletics Indoor Championships she reached third place in 1977 (20.87 m) and 1978 (19.24 m) and second place in 1980 (19.66 m).

From 1974 to 1981 she was German champion in the shot put eight times in a row. In the hall she won seven times from 1974 to 1980. She set her best performance of 21.43 m in 1977.

In 1977 she was voted Sportswoman of the Year in the Federal Republic of Germany after setting an indoor world record and two outdoor world records in pentathlon . She married the national jumping coach Alfred Rapp in 1989 and became the national coach for the young female seven-fighters herself. Until the beginning of 2018, Rapp was a young national trainer with the German all-rounders and then said goodbye to retirement.
