Lothar Milde

Lothar Milde (born November 8, 1934 in Halle (Saale) ) is a German athlete who - starting for the GDR - won the silver medal in the discus throw at the 1968 Olympic Games . In addition, he came to medal ranks four times at European Championships. He also started in the joint German teams at the Olympic Games in 1960 (twelfth) and 1964 (eliminated in qualification).

Successes in detail

Lothar Milde was captain of the GDR national athletics team from 1966 to 1971. During his sports career, from 1963 to the 1980s , he was a member of the district assembly of the GDR district of Halle. After his sports career, he worked as a machine tool engineer and was a member of the Presidium of the GDR Athletics Association DVfL . He later became a trade union official in the GDR. After the reunification he was state chairman of IG-Metall in Saxony-Anhalt.

Lothar Milde started for SC Chemie Halle and trained with Lothar Hinz . During his playing days he was 1.95 m tall and weighed 110 kg.
