Philippe Marquis (born May 9, 1989 in Québec ) is a Canadian freestyle skier . He starts in the moguls disciplines, contained moguls and dual moguls.

Career

Marquis took part mainly in the Nor-Am Cup from 2005 to 2010. He won his first and only victory in Apex in February 2010 . In the World Cup he made his debut in January 2008 in Mont Gabriel and took 35th place in the Moguls competition. In the following year he reached his first top 10 placement with ninth place in the same place. At the 2009 World Championships in Inawashiro , he came in 23rd place in the Moguls and 12th in the Dual Moguls. In the 2011/12 season he achieved the first World Cup podium finishes with two third places in Lake Placid and Naeba and a second place in Beida Lake . In March 2012, he won his first World Cup victory in the Moguls competition in Åre and ended the season in ninth place in the overall World Cup and fourth in the Moguls discipline. At the Freestyle Skiing World Championships in 2013 in Voss , he finished 15th in the Moguls and seventh in the Dual Moguls. In February 2013, he won third place in the Mughal competition in Sochi .

At his first Olympic participation in Sochi in 2014, Marquis finished ninth in the Mughal competition. At the beginning of the 2014/15 season he won the Duals Moguls competition in Ruka . This was followed by a second place in Tazawako , with which he reached eighth place in the overall World Cup and third place in the Moguls World Cup. At the 2015 World Championships on Kreischberg , he finished sixth in the Moguls, while he won the silver medal in the Dual Moguls competition. In the 2015/16 season , Marquis achieved six top 10 placements, including 3rd place in the Dual Moguls in Moscow and 2nd place in the Moguls in Calgary . This was enough for 16th place in the overall World Cup and fourth place in the Moguls World Cup.

After three seventh places and one sixth place at the beginning of the 2016/17 season , Marquis finished third in Deer Valley and Pyeongchang in the Moguls and second in Tazawako . At the season highlight, the 2017 World Championships in Sierra Nevada , he finished 16th in the Moguls and 14th in the Dual Moguls. As in the previous year, he finished the season in 16th place in the overall World Cup and fourth in the Moguls World Cup.

Marquis has taken part in 82 World Cup races so far and was among the top ten 50 times. (Status: end of season 2016/17)
