The 16th Freestyle Skiing World Championships were held from January 15 to 25, 2015 at Kreischberg ( Styria , Austria). They were held at the same time as the snowboard world championships , so in 2015 there was for the first time a "double world championship" of freestyle skiing and snowboarding . In June 2010 the International Ski Federation (FIS) awarded the joint world championships to the Kreischberg delegation as part of its congress in Antalya (Turkey). This was the first organization to apply with the idea of ​​holding a double World Cup.

More than 1,000 participants from around 60 nations were expected in the Murtal during this period.

Aerials

22 athletes took part in the competition. These started in two qualification rounds: The first six of the first round qualified directly. Of the 16 participants in the second round, six more qualified, so that a total of twelve skiers qualified for the final on the following day. The final was held in three rounds. In the first two, the three athletes with the worst results were eliminated, so that only six of them competed in the real final.

45 skiers from 20 countries competed for the first qualifying round at the Moguls . The nine best reached the final round straight away. Nine other athletes made it to the final round via a second qualifying round. The best six of the first final reached the final run.

Dual moguls

41 of 44 registered skiers from 20 countries competed at the Dual Moguls. In a qualifying round, 16 of them reached the round of 16. In further direct comparisons, half were eliminated in the quarter, half and final. The losers in the semifinals also competed for third place.

Slopestyle

48 athletes from 19 countries took part in the slopestyle competition. The participants were divided into two groups, with the five best ski jumpers each reaching the final after two runs. Due to the mode, three starters from one group did not make it to the final despite higher scores than the fifth from the other group. The medals and places were then awarded in two more runs.

Ski cross

52 starters from 19 countries took part in the men's ski cross. The best 32 qualified for the final. and were divided into groups of four according to the preliminary work. In the eighth, quarter and semi-finals, the first two reached the next round. Those eliminated in the semifinals ran for places 5 to 8 in the small final , the winners battled for medals in the big final .
