Maxim Vyachaslavich Huszik ( Belarusian Максім Вячаслававіч Гусцік , Russian Максим Вячеславович Густик / Maxim Wjatscheslavowitsch Gustik; * May 1, 1988 ) is a Belarusian Freestyle . He starts in the aerials discipline (jumping) .

Career

Huszik started in Arosa for the first time in the European Cup in December 2004 and finished in seventh place. At the Junior World Championships in 2006 in Krasnoe Ozero and in 2007 in Airolo , he won the gold medal. He made his World Cup debut in March 2008 in Moscow , where he finished tenth. In the seasons 2008/09 and 2009/10 he won the Aerials discipline in the European Cup. At the 2011 Freestyle Skiing World Championships in Deer Valley , he came in 11th place. In the 2011/12 season he achieved four top ten finishes in eight World Cup appearances. He achieved his first podium result in the World Cup with second place at the World Cup on Kreischberg . In the Aerials World Cup, he finished ninth. At the beginning of February 2013 he achieved his first World Cup victory in Deer Valley . In the same month he came back on the podium with third place at the World Cup in Bukovel and thus reached 19th place in the overall World Cup and seventh place in the Aerials World Cup. At the Freestyle Skiing World Championships 2013 in Voss , he finished 15th.

Huszik could not repeat these good results in the following season. His best World Cup result at the beginning of the season was 14th place in Beida Lake . In the European Cup he took third place in the Aerials discipline with two wins and a fourth place. In the 2014/15 season he was in the top ten four times in six World Cup appearances. He reached third place in Moscow . At the highlight of the season, the Freestyle Skiing World Championships 2015 on Kreischberg , he won the bronze medal. He finished the season in eighth place in the Aerials World Cup. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season he won his second World Cup victory in Beijing . In the further course of the season he made it into the top ten four times, including second place in Minsk , and at the end of the season he reached 12th place in the overall World Cup and second place in the Aerials World Cup. After third place at the European Cup in Ruka at the beginning of the 2016/17 season , he came third in the World Cup in Beida Lake and second in Moscow. So he reached fifth place in the Aerials World Cup at the end of the season. He jumped to seventh place at the 2017 Freestyle Skiing World Championships in Sierra Nevada .

In the 2017/18 season , a second place was his best World Cup result. In addition, there were four other top 10 placements, which resulted in 4th place in the discipline ranking. At the season highlight, the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he came in eighth. The following year he jumped to 20th place in the individual and fourth place in the team competition at the Freestyle Skiing World Championships in Park City .
