Christina Staudinger (born February 23, 1987 ) is an Austrian freestyle skier in the discipline of ski cross and a former ski racer . In alpine ski racing, she was particularly successful in the downhill and super-G disciplines . In 2012 she switched to ski cross.
biography
Staudinger contested her first FIS races in alpine ski racing in December 2002 , and in January 2006 she was among the top ten for the first time. A few days later she started in the European Cup for the first time and reached the points from the start. In 2006 and 2007 she achieved podium places at the Austrian Youth Championships. In the 2008/2009 season , Staudinger achieved their first top 10 placements in the European Cup. She made her World Cup debut in the Super Combined from Tarvis on February 20, 2009 , which she finished in 43rd place.
At the beginning of the next winter, Staudinger came to further World Cup appearances, but in which she did not yet reach the points, i.e. she was among the top 30. From mid-January she started again in the European Cup and by the end of the season achieved a total of six top 5 placements in downhill runs and Super-Gs, including her first and only victory in the Super-G in Auron on March 2, 2010. Five days later she won as 21st her first World Cup points in the Super-G of Crans-Montana . On March 23, 2010 she won the Austrian Downhill Championship .
Staudinger achieved her best World Cup result on January 9, 2011 with 17th place in the Super-G in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee . Another five times in the 2010/2011 season she was among the fastest 30. After failing to score any World Cup points in the 2011/2012 season, she was dismissed from the Austrian Ski Association in spring 2012 .
Staudinger then switched to ski cross. In December 2012 she took part in her first ski cross world cup race. As part of the Austrian team , she will take part in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi .
