Cakmakli from SC Partenkirchen came to freestyle in 2009 and initially only started in slopestyle . In this discipline, she celebrated various successes early on, such as two overall victories at the Wirschanzen Tour in 2011 and 2012 and a third place at the Austrian Freeski Open. In March 2012 she took part in the Freestyle Junior World Ski Championships in Chiesa in Valmalenco , where she reached tenth place. The 2012/13 season ended prematurely for Cakmakli after she tore her cruciate ligament in a serious fall and damaged both menisci in January 2013 while training for the World Cup in Copper Mountain . This was followed by an operation and six months of physiotherapy and rehabilitation before the 18-year-old was able to train again in New Zealand in the winter of the southern hemisphere in July. In addition to the slopestyle, she now also started in the halfpipe, which is easier on the knees, and there she achieved 21st place and her first World Cup points at the World Cup opener in Cardrona . In other competitions in New Zealand, Cakmakli placed eleven (at the New Zealand Freeski Open) and two (at the Rail Contest).
In order to qualify for the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi , a result among the top twelve was missing at this point, which she achieved at the World Cup in Calgary in early January 2014 . It thus fulfilled the internal criteria of the German Ski Association and was nominated by the DOSB for the German Olympic team on January 23, 2014 . In the World Cup she finished on the podium for the first time on February 28, 2015 in Park City .
