Andreas Gohl (born January 29, 1994 in Bludenz ) is an Austrian freestyle skier . He mainly starts in the halfpipe and in slopestyle races.

Career

Gohl, who competes for the Arlberg Ski Club , began freestyle skiing in 2006 and came second in the junior race The North Face Ski Challenge in 2008 . However, it took three more years until November 2011 until he started for the first time in the senior international freestyle skiing European Cup . In January 2012 he reached the top 10 for the first time. A year later he traveled to the World Cup races in Copper Mountain . In the halfpipe and in the slopestyle race, he secured a starting place with good qualification results and thus made his debut in the World Cup on January 11, 2013. In both competitions, however, he clearly missed the points. In February he secured his first World Cup points as 27th in the halfpipe at the Olympic dress rehearsal in Sochi , but subsequently switched back to the European Cup. In Brand he secured two very good top 10 placements in slopestyle.

At the Junior World Championships in Chiesa in Valmalenco , Gohl was ninth in the halfpipe and 24th in slopestyle. In August 2013 he was part of the Austrian squad for the World Cup in Cardrona , New Zealand , but did not start. On January 3, 2014, Gohl celebrated his first top 10 placement in the World Cup with tenth place in the halfpipe in Calgary . After finishing 28th and further World Cup points in Breckenridge, he traveled with the Austrian team to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. In the halfpipe competition he was eliminated in the preliminary run and ended up in 20th place.

In the winter of 2014/15 he started with a point gain as 24th in Copper Mountain, although he clearly missed the qualification for the final in the competition, in which only ten starters took part. At the 2015 home world championships at Kreischberg , he was part of the Austrian squad around Andreas Matt and reached 16th place in the halfpipe. At the Austrian Championships in April he just missed his first national medal as fourth in the halfpipe competition. Shortly before, he had finished his third World Cup season as 125th in the overall World Cup ranking.
