Fabian Bösch (born July 6, 1997 in Hirschthal ) is a Swiss freestyle skier .

Career

Fabian Bösch moved with his family from Lenzburg (AG) to Engelberg in the canton of Obwalden at the age of 5 and joined the JO of the Engelberg Ski Club at the age of 6. The coaches soon noticed his talent for alpine ski racing. He won the GP Migros final in the Combirace 6 times in a row (2006 to 2011), in 2010 and 2011 he even managed a double victory with an additional gold medal in the giant slalom. At the age of 12 he was called up by Swissski for the Topolino race (unofficial student world championships) in Italy and shone with a 2nd place in the Combirace. At the age of 13 he was U15 vice Swiss champion in Super G and Swiss champion in slalom. But despite these successes, he switched to the freestyler camp at the end of the 2010/11 season. The reason he cited was that he was bored of only driving around red and blue gates. He also wants to be able to live out his creativity on skis.

The foundation stone for his career as a freeskier was laid at the Engelberg sports school. Almost exactly a year after the SM title in slalom, he was again Swiss champion in 2012, this time in the rookies' slopestyle skiing.

Bösch, who is still starting for SC Engelberg, made his World Cup debut in February 2013 in Silvaplana , which he finished in third place in slopestyle . In the same month he took third place on the halfpipe at the Swiss Freeski Open in Davos . In the 2013/14 season he came third in the World Cup in Gstaad and in Big Air at the Jon Olsson Invitational in Åre . In his first Olympic participation in Sochi in 2014 , he achieved 23rd place in slopestyle. At the beginning of the 2014/15 season he won the slopestyle at the Stubai Jam in Neustift in the Stubaital . This was followed by a second place in slopestyle at the SFR Freestyle Tour in Val Thorens . In January 2015 he became world champion in slopestyle at the Freestyle Skiing World Championships on Kreischberg . At the end of the season he won Big Air at the Jon Olsson Invitational in Åre.

At the beginning of the following season he took third place in slopestyle at the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge and second place in slopestyle at the SFR Freestyle Tour in Val Thorens. At the Winter X Games 2016 in Aspen he won the gold medal in Big Air. In February 2016, he won the silver medal in the Big Air competition at the X Games Oslo 2016 in Oslo . At the end of the season he came in second place in the Slopestyle World Cup in Silvaplana and reached sixth place in the Slopestyle World Cup. After finishing second in Big Air at the beginning of the 2016/17 season in El Colorado , Chile , he suffered a bruised heel during training in January 2017 and thus missed the Freestyle Skiing World Championships in Sierra Nevada .

In the 2017/18 season he won the Spring Battle in Flachauwinkl in Slopestyle and took third place in Slopestyle at the World Cup in Cardrona . At the Winter X Games 2018 he was ninth in slopestyle and fourth in Big Air and sixth in Big Air at the X Games Norway 2018 in Fornebu . In February 2018 he finished 24th in slopestyle at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . A year later, he won the gold medal in Big Air at the 2019 World Championships in Park City .
