Marc Bischofberger (born January 26, 1991 ) is a Swiss freestyle skier . He starts in the ski cross discipline .

Career

Bischofberger comes from Oberegg in the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden . He started his sports career as an alpine ski racer and from 2006 to 2010 he mainly participated in FIS races . As a freestyle skier, he started in the European Cup in Obermaiselstein for the first time in January 2012 and finished 26th. He made his debut in the Freestyle World Cup on March 16, 2013 in Åre , where he finished 39th and 34th. At the beginning of the 2013/14 season , he achieved his first top 10 placement in the World Cup with seventh place in San Candido . In the 2014/15 season , Bischofberger made it into the top ten four times in 11 World Cup appearances. He won his first World Cup victory on January 10, 2015 in Val Thorens and came 11th in the Ski Cross World Cup at the end of the season. At the season highlight, the 2015 World Championships at Kreischberg , he finished 16th. In March 2015 he became Swiss champion in ski cross.

Bischofberger's best World Cup result in the 2015/16 season was 15th at Watles . After finishing 5th and 10th in the World Cup races in Val Thorens at the beginning of the 2016/17 season , he finished third in the World Cup in Montafon . This was followed by six top 10 placements in the World Cup, including second place in Idre . At the end of the season, he finished 33rd in the overall World Cup and 6th in the Ski Cross World Cup. At the highlight of the season, the 2017 World Championships in the Sierra Nevada , he was tenth.

At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , Bischofberger won the ski cross silver medal. In the 2017/18 World Cup, he won the ski cross discipline with two wins and a second and third place.
