Katie Summerhayes (born October 8, 1995 in Sheffield ) is a British freestyle skier . She starts in the freestyle disciplines.

Career

Summerhayes first appeared internationally in February 2011 at the Freestyle Skiing World Championships 2011 in Park City . There she took 14th place on the halfpipe and 11th place in slopestyle . In the same month she took her first podium finishes at the AFP World Tour in slopestyle with second place at the Austrian Freeski Open in Kaprun and third place at the European Freeski Open in Laax . She made her debut in the Freestyle Skiing World Cup in March 2012 in Mammoth and came tenth in the Slopestyle. Also that season she took second place in slopestyle at the Aspen / Snowmass Open. In the 2012/13 season she came second at the Austrian Freeski Open in Kaprun and at the World Cup in Silvaplana . At the Freestyle Skiing World Championships 2013 in Voss , she achieved fourth place in slopestyle. In March 2013 she won the bronze medal in Slopestyle at the Junior World Championships in Chiesa in Valmalenco . The following season she finished second at the World Cup in Gstaad and at the SFR Tour in La Clusaz . In her first Olympic participation in Sochi in 2014 , she finished seventh in the first-ever slopestyle competition. In March 2014 she won the gold medal in slopestyle at the Junior World Championships in Chiesa in Valmalenco. At the Freestyle Skiing World Championships on Kreischberg , she won the silver medal in Slopestyle. In April 2015 she came second in the AFP World Tour Finals in Whistler in slopestyle and big air . In the AFP Big Air ranking she came in third place. In the 2017/18 season she was second in slopestyle at the World Cup in Stubai and seventh in slopestyle at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang
