Cassie Sharpe (born September 14, 1992 ) is a Canadian freestyle skier . It starts in the disciplines halfpipe and slopestyle .

Career

Sharpe has participated in FIS competitions and the AFP World Tour since 2011 . In February 2011 she took her first podium finishes with a third and a second place on the halfpipe at the URTUR and Nor Am Cup in Killington . In the 2011/12 season she won the halfpipe competition at the Canada Post Freestyle Frenzy Open Tour in Calgary and at the Pipe Open Series in Truckee . Also that season she came second in slopestyle at the Canadian Shield in Mont-Tremblant and at the 7th Annual Showdown Hoedown Throwdown in Silver Star Mountain and third at the Aspen / Snowmass Open. She made her debut in the World Cup in March 2012 in Mammoth , which she finished in 17th place on the halfpipe.

In the 2013/14 season she won the halfpipe at the Canadian Open Tour in Mount Saint Louis at the Aspen / Snowmass Open and at the Snowcrown Ski and Snowboard Festival in Blue Mountain . She took second place in slopestyle at the Snowcrown Ski and Snowboard Festival and at the Dew Tour Am Series in Sun Peaks . In March 2014 she became Canadian champion in the disciplines of halfpipe and slopestyle. At the end of the season she came in third place in slopestyle at the AFP World Tour finals in Whistler and thus reached third place in the AFP World Tour overall ranking. At the 2015 Freestyle Skiing World Championships on Kreischberg , she won the silver medal in the halfpipe competition. In March 2015 she won her first World Cup victory on the halfpipe at the World Cup and SFR Freestyle Tour in Tignes . In the Halfpipe World Cup, she reached fourth place.

At the beginning of the 2015/16 season she finished second on the halfpipe of the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge . In the further course of the season she came fourth in the Superpipe competition at the Winter X Games 2016 in Aspen and won the gold medal on the Superpipe at the X Games Oslo 2016 in Oslo . After finishing second in the halfpipe at the US Revolution Tour in Copper Mountain at the beginning of the 2016/17 season, she finished seventh at the Winter X Games 2017 and won the World Cup in Tignes. She reached fourth place in the Halfpipe World Cup. At the 2017 Freestyle Skiing World Championships in Sierra Nevada , she came 25th in the halfpipe. In the 2017/18 season she won the World Cup in Cardrona , Snowmass and Tignes and the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge, taking seventh place in the overall World Cup and first place in the Halfpipe World Cup. She won the bronze medal at the 2018 Winter X Games in Aspen and the gold medal in the halfpipe at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang . In the following season she won the Halfpipe World Cup again with first places and a second place. At the 2019 World Championships in Park City , she won the halfpipe silver medal and the gold medal at the 2019 Winter X Games . The following year she finished third in the Winter X Games .

Her younger brother Darcy (* 1996) is active as a snowboarder.
