biography

At the beginning of his sports career, Flisar was an alpine ski racer . From December 2002 he competed in FIS races and over time specialized in the fast downhill and super-G disciplines . In 2007 he was in five races in the European Cup , but did not get beyond a 40th place. In the same year Flisar took part in the Junior World Championship 2007 , where he was sixth in the downhill and eighth in the Super-G. These were his only notable successes, so that he turned to ski cross.

Flisar made his debut in the Freestyle World Cup on March 6, 2008 in Grindelwald , where he placed 53rd. On January 11th, 2009, he took part in a world cup event in the halfpipe discipline for the only time and was the 28th to win World Cup points for the first time. The first ski cross World Cup points followed on February 19, 2009 with 22nd place in Myrdalen-Voss . In January 2010 he made it into the top ten of the World Cup, and in eighth place at the 2010 Winter Olympics , he achieved his best result to date.

Flisar's best ranking in the 2010/11 World Cup season was a 4th place. After a cautious start to the season, he was able to celebrate his first World Cup victory on January 11, 2012 in Alpe d'Huez rather surprisingly. He won the silver medal at the Winter X Games 2012 . With two wins in Götschen and Grindelwald as well as two second places, he secured himself the win of the Skicross World Cup ranking of the 2011/12 season . At the beginning of the 2012/13 season he succeeded in another World Cup victory in Telluride . In the 2013/14 season , Flisar did not get beyond 16th place in the World Cup, but took 6th place at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi .

During the 2014/15 World Cup season , Flisar only achieved two top 10 placements, including a second place. Somewhat surprisingly, he won the gold medal at the 2015 World Championships on Kreischberg . In the winter of 2015/16 he achieved three World Cup podiums, including a win in Idre . Two more victories followed at the beginning of the 2016/17 season in San Candido. At the 2017 World Championships , he again made it to the final run, but he was denied defending his title and placed 4th.

Flisar took part in the Mountain Bike World Championships in 2016 and took tenth place in the FourCross discipline .
