biography

Caldwell was initially in their youth gymnast before switching to freestyle skiing. From January 2008 she took part in the Nor-Am Cup. After she had won twice in this continental championship, she made her debut on January 10, 2010 in the World Cup and was in Calgary eleventh straight away. With two more top 15 results in the following week, she qualified for the 2010 Winter Olympics , where she finished tenth. The FIS named Caldwell Rookie of the Year in 2010 . On January 21, 2011, she won the jumping in Lake Placid and stood on the podium for the first time. At the 2011 World Championships in Deer Valley , she just missed a medal in fourth.

Caldwell missed the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons due to two consecutive cruciate ligament tears . On December 15, 2013, after a two and a half year break, she made her comeback in the World Cup and immediately classified second in Beida Lake . She qualified for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , where she jumped to 10th place. In the 2014-15 season , Caldwell won in Deer Valley and Minsk . There was also another podium, which resulted in second place in the Aerials discipline. At the 2015 World Championships on Kreischberg, she finished fourth. In the 2015/16 season she won the World Cup competitions in Beijing and Minsk. With two more podium places, she secured the aerials discipline ranking by a large margin.

The 2016/17 World Cup season was unbroken for Caldwell. Although she won the jumping in Lake Placid, she did not get past eighth place. At the season highlight, the 2017 World Championships in the Sierra Nevada , she prevailed against all the competition and won the gold medal.
