Yuki Tsubota (born February 3, 1994 in Vancouver ) is a Canadian freestyle skier . She starts in the disciplines of slopestyle and big air .

Career

Tsubota has been participating in AFP World Tour competitions since 2010 . In the 2011/12 season she won the slopestyle at the Canada Post Freestyle Frenzy Open Tour in Calgary , the Pipe Open Series in Truckee , the 7th Annual Showdown Hoedown Throwdown in Silver Star Mountain and the Canadian Shield in Mont-Tremblant and Calgary . She made her debut in the World Cup in March 2012 in Mammoth , which she finished in fifth place. At the end of the season, she finished third in the Slopestyle at the World Skiing Invitational in Whistler . In January 2013 she won the Slopestyle at the Pipe Open Series in Whistler . At the Freestyle Skiing World Championships 2013 in Voss , she came fifth in Slopestyle. In her first Olympic participation in Sochi in 2014 , she was sixth in the first-ever slopestyle competition. In the 2014/15 season she took second place in Big Air and Slopestyle at The Sony SnowCrown in Blue Mountain and third place in slopestyle at the SFR Freestyle Tour in La Clusaz . At the Freestyle Skiing World Championships 2015 on Kreischberg she came in sixth place in Slopestyle. At the end of the season she took third place in Big Air and first place in slopestyle at the AFP World Tour Finals in Whistler, and thus achieved second place in the AFP World Tour Slopestyle ranking and first place in the AFP World Tour Big Air ranking. In the following season she was in the top ten four times in the World Cup. She won her first World Cup victory in the Slopestyle in Mammoth and reached 19th place in the overall World Cup and fourth place in the Slopestyle World Cup. The following year, she came 13th in slopestyle at the 2017 Freestyle Skiing World Championships in Sierra Nevada . In the 2017/18 season she took sixth place in slopestyle at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and third place in slopestyle at the World Cup on the Alpe di Siusi . At the beginning of the 2018/19 season she finished third in Big Air at the World Cup in Cardrona .
