Sheffield Shield 2014/15

The Sheffield Shield 2014/15 was the 122nd season of the national first-class cricket competition in Australia . The winner was Victoria , who won her 28th Sheffield Shield.

The teams played two games in each division against each other. A team received 6 points for a win and 3 points for a draw (both teams achieve the same number of runs ). If no result is achieved and the game ends in a draw, both teams get 1 point. Additionally there is the possibility to collect bonus points in the first 100 overs of the first inning . Thereby 0.01 batting bonus points are distributed per run that are achieved more than 200 runs, each 0.5 bowling bonus points are awarded for reaching the 5, 7, 9 wicket. Furthermore, it is possible that teams are deducted points if, for example, they play too slowly or the pitch is not properly prepared. At the end of the season, the winner of the division is the winner of the Sheffield Shield.

The table of the season took the following shape at the end of the season. All point deductions were corrections of bonus points that were achieved up to the abortion of ongoing games after Phillip Hughes' death in the game New South Wales against South Australia.

Round 4

The game between South Australia and New South Wales was abandoned on Matchday 1 when Phillip Hughes was hit in the head by a bouncer and, after a successful resuscitation, was taken to hospital, where he was placed in an artificial coma. The next day the other two games were also canceled.
