format

The teams played two games in each division against each other. A team received 6 points for a win and 3 points for a draw (both teams achieve the same number of runs ). If no result was achieved and the game ended in a draw, both teams got 1 point. In addition, there was the opportunity to collect bonus points in the first 100 overs of the first inning . Thereby, 0.01 batting bonus points were distributed per run, which were achieved more than 200 runs, each 0.5 bowling bonus points were awarded for reaching the 5, 7, 9 wicket. It is also possible that teams get points deducted if, for example, they played too slowly or the pitch was not properly prepared. At the end of the season a final of the best two teams was played, the winner of which was the winner of the Sheffield Shields.
