Sheffield Shield 2016/17

The Sheffield Shield 2016/17 was the 124th season of the national first-class cricket competition in Australia from October 25, 2016 to March 30, 2017. The winner was Victoria , who won her 30th Sheffield Shield.

The teams play two games in each division against each other. A team receives 6 points for a win and 3 points for a draw (both teams achieve the same number of runs ). If no result is achieved and the game ends in a draw, both teams get 1 point. Additionally there is the possibility to collect bonus points in the first 100 overs of the first inning . Thereby, 0.01 batting bonus points are distributed for each run that is achieved more than 200 runs, 0.5 bowling bonus points are awarded for reaching the 5, 7, 9 wicket. Furthermore, it is possible that teams are deducted points if, for example, they play too slowly or the pitch is not properly prepared. At the end of the season, the winner of the division is the winner of the Sheffield Shield.
