Sheffield Shield 2019/20

The Sheffield Shield 2019/20 is the 127th season of the national first-class cricket competition in Australia from October 10, 2019 to March 31, 2020.

format

The teams play two games in each division against each other. A team receives 6 points for a win and 3 points for a draw (both teams achieve the same number of runs ). If no result is achieved and the game ends in a draw, both teams receive 1 point. Additionally there is the possibility to collect bonus points in the first 100 overs of the first inning . Thereby, 0.01 batting bonus points are distributed for each run that is achieved more than 200 runs, 0.5 bowling bonus points are awarded for reaching the 5, 7, 9 wicket. Furthermore, it is possible that teams are deducted points if, for example, they play too slowly or the pitch is not properly prepared. At the end of the season there will be a final of the two best teams, the winner of which is the Sheffield Shield winner.
